Holiday homes, searchable the way guests choose them.

A custom WordPress site for a holiday lettings agency on Anglesey. Guests search the whole portfolio by the things they care about, check availability without leaving the site, and the team runs every page of it themselves.

What they had: an ageing site that undersold the homes.

Trearddur Bay Holiday Homes manages a portfolio of self-catering holiday homes around Trearddur Bay and across Anglesey. Their site ran on an ageing Joomla setup that was awkward for the team to update, and it did not show the properties at their best.

Guests choose a holiday home on specifics: how many it sleeps, whether the dog can come, a sea view, a log burner, and whether the beach or the pub is a walk away. The site needed to take a guest from that list of wants to a shortlist quickly.

Bookings run through a third-party booking system, and that had to feel like part of the site. The team also needed to run it day to day themselves, without coming back to us for every edit.

A search built around how guests choose.

Every property sits in one list, with a filter sidebar alongside it. Sliders narrow the list by sleeps, bedrooms, bathrooms, and WCs. Checkboxes cover pets, sea views, children, secluded locations, log burners, hot tubs, ground-floor bedrooms, secure gardens, and walking distance to the beach or the pub, among others.

Each card carries a row of feature icons, so a guest can scan the list without opening anything. Every property page also has one-click shortcuts to the lists people ask for most: sea view properties, pet friendly homes, large groups of eight or more, and homes with a log burner.

Property pages that sell the stay.

Every property gets a full photo gallery with a lightbox. In the admin, the team drags photos into order, and whichever sits first becomes the cover shot automatically.

Around the gallery sit video, the property ID, pricing, a features list, and a map pin, plus a what3words address so guests find the door when they arrive. Check Availability opens the booking system inside the page, so the guest stays on the site the whole way through.

A map wherever it helps.

The homepage plots the whole portfolio on one map, with branded pins. Tap a pin and a card opens with a photo, how many the property sleeps, the price, and a link through to it.

A second map on the local area page shows the restaurants the team recommends, for guests planning their stay before they arrive.

Built for the team to run.

Everything that changes is editable in WordPress: the properties and their galleries, the homepage welcome text, guest reviews, team profiles, FAQs, and contact details. A featured toggle lets the team choose which homes lead the homepage, and reviews added in the admin roll through a carousel on the site.

Enquiry and newsletter forms save every submission inside WordPress as well as emailing the team, so nothing gets lost in an inbox. The move from the old site brought all 223 newsletter subscribers across with it.

We also handed over an illustrated staff manual, built from screenshots of their own admin, so anyone on the team can pick it up.

Custom from the ground up.

The theme is our own, written from scratch for this site, in the agency's warm gold palette and set in Gill Sans Nova. It is mobile first and responsive throughout, down to a branded 404 page.

Search engines get the detail too. Each listing carries schema.org lodging markup and its own SEO meta, built into the theme, so a search engine can read a property the way a guest does.

"Owen at Quietwork rebuilt our website and it has made a real difference to how we present the properties. He took the time to understand the holiday let side of things, sorted out the booking integration, and the whole site just works better now for us and for guests. Always responsive, easy to work with, and clearly cares about doing a proper job. Highly recommended."

The same build now runs a second business.

We designed the theme so it could be forked. Anglesey Lettings, the group's long-term rentals business, now runs on it with its own teal and navy branding.

Rentals need different information, so its property pages carry rent, deposits, EPC rating, and council tax band, and the site includes the full set of Rent Smart Wales compliance pages. For the group, that means two businesses on one foundation, each looking like its own.

"I have worked with Owen for years, he has excellent ideas and amazing knowledge, he has just created two brilliant web sites for my business which are exactly what I wanted. He is always available to help if we need it. I can't recommend him highly enough."
