Design › Branding and identity
An identity is a system, not a logo.
A logo is the part people talk about. The part that decides whether a business looks credible eighteen months later is whether anyone can apply the thing without you.
Most identity work falls apart at handover. The logo is fine, the guidelines are a forty page PDF nobody opens, and within a year there are five versions of the brand in circulation because no one knew which file to use.
Twenty-one years on the other side of that problem, running brand inside a company large enough that inconsistency was expensive. What survives is not the prettiest system, it is the one that is obvious to apply under time pressure.
So the deliverable is the working set: the marks, the rules, the templates, and the files named so the next person picks the right one without asking.
What this usually includes
- Logo and identity design
- Colour, type and layout systems
- Brand guidelines people will actually open
- Stationery and templates
- Rollout across web, print and slides
- Naming and tone, where it is needed
Identity work
Need an identity that holds up?
Say what you have now and what is going wrong with it. Sometimes the answer is a rebrand and sometimes it is just a tidy-up, and you will be told which.
